The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland (VFI) has reiterated its calls to the government to introduce measures to help save the pub industry. Recent reports show that more than 1,000 rural pubs have not renewed their licence in the last 12 months with over 550 pubs expected to close this year.

Today’s announcement by the Government and the Commission for Energy Regulation concerning plans to introduce a new levy leading to an increase in electricity prices is yet another hammer blow to small businesses, according to the CEO of the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland (“VFI”), Padraig Cribben.
